William Garlock - Founder & President at Garlock & Company, Inc.
His extensive background includes having served as President of the Lincoln N.C. Realty Fund and Manager of Real Estate Finance for the Irvine Company, the largest landowner in Orange County, California. In addition, William Garlock held a board position for the Metric Income Trust Series, Inc., a private Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) managed by a subsidiary of Metropolitan Life Insurance.
A keen student of business and investing from an early age, Garlock studied at the University of California, Santa Barbara and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. In 1975, he received a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Stanford University.
On completion of graduate school, William Garlock gained valuable banking experience by spending three years with Security Pacific Bank and one year with Crocker Bank. When offered the opportunity, he moved into real estate, taking the position of Senior Vice President of Real Estate Finance at Daon Corporation, a real estate development company based in Canada. Four years later Garlock became a Principal and Owner of the merchant bank of Blackman, Garlock, Flynn and Company (B.G.F.), developing his skills in international finance and dealing with multinational corporations. When B.G.F. was sold to the English merchant bank Exco, he formed the private merchant bank of William F. Garlock & Company, where he used his skills to set up financing, raise equity, and originate loans. The firm also bought real estate for its own account and Garlock found a niche in which he excelled. Since 1991, his primary focus has been the purchase, redevelopment, and sale of income properties.
Long a proponent of higher education, William Garlock currently sits on the Foundation Board of Trustees of the University of California, Santa Barbara, working to ensure continuing benefactor engagement and support for future students.
