Robert Dean Stebbins, MD, possesses a host of diversified experience in the medical field, encompassing clinical, teaching, research, and administrative roles. He currently serves as a Medical Research Consultant for Therataxis, LLC, located in Baltimore, Maryland. Prior to that role, Dr. Robert D. Stebbins acted as co-founder and Chief Medical Officer for the Mountain View, California, firm Concurro Corporation, and before that he held the position of Research Associate for California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
From 1977 to 1997, Robert Dean Stebbins, MD, practiced privately in Palo Alto, California, where he focused on treating individuals with leukemia and breast cancer; in addition, he provided his 1,600 yearly patients with services in hematology and internal medicine. He received an appointment to the Stanford University School of Medicine as a Clinical Professor of Medicine during that time, where he won two Russell V. Lee Clinical Teaching Awards. In addition, Dr. Robert D. Stebbins acted as a Research and Development Consultant for CardioSynopsis, Inc., for a year; in this capacity, he coordinated the development of a prototype of a clinical stent implantation in porcine carotid arteries. Besides teaching at Stanford University, Robert Dean Stebbins, MD, sat on numerous clinical and academic committees at the school. He served as Associate Director of the Compromised Host Unit, the first dedicated unit for leukemia treatment in a hospital, where he developed the design and treatment protocol requirements. Dr. Stebbins also acted as founding Chairman of the Committee on Residency Training and Clinical Service at Stanford; he directed 18 senior physicians and trainees in review and restructuring of teaching and residency training programs. As founding President and Chairman of the Board for the Private Physicians Group at Stanford, Inc., he organized 250 private physicians to compete for HMO contracts for a patient pool consisting of 18,000 members. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Distributed Studies at Iowa State University, Dr. Robert Dean Stebbins enrolled in the University of Southern California, where he obtained his Doctor of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed an internship in straight medicine and a residency in internal medicine at the institution.
