An experienced mortgage lending professional, Richard Sweum assists clients in the Greater Seattle Area. For almost a decade, he has enabled individuals to buy residential properties by garnering necessary funding.
For the past three years, Sweum has acted as Branch Manager and a Senior Loan Officer at Sterling Bank in Everett, Washington. In this position, he manages a team and strives to increase the branch’s mortgage originations. He and the staff guide current and future clients to cost-effective solutions to facilitate home purchases and refinancing. In 2009, Mr. Sweum received recognition as one of the Best Mortgage Professionals.
Previously, Richard Sweum served Golf Savings Bank as a Branch Manager. He also contributed in a similar leadership role for Homestead Mortgage. In almost five years, he received a client satisfaction prize and became the branch’s top producer. His other professional experience includes time as a Loan Officer with First Horizon Home Loans and as a Metro Director at Young Life International.
Periodically, Richard Sweum shares his perspective online in his blog. He has discussed Warren Buffett’s advice regarding home purchases, the media’s coverage of economic indicators, and his perspective on the mortgage market. He also offered remarks on the propensity for scams in a poor economic environment, the ineffectiveness of loan modifications, and regarding individuals who testified before the US Congress about Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
Sweum prepared for his career by attending Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, where he studied social sciences and administration. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, such as snowboarding, wakeboarding, and golf. He also serves as a fund-raising consultant and participates in auctioneering.
