Paul de Souza


Paul de Souza, an information technology and cyber-security professional active in Utah and Washington, D.C., serves on the IT Industrial Advisory Board at Brigham Young University, where he plays an instrumental role in pursuing the university’s IT faculty and program development goals.

In addition to his 12 years of professional experience, Mr. de Souza holds a number of network and technological certifications, including certification as a Juniper Networks Internet Associate (JNCIA-FWV), a Cisco Security Professional (CCSP), and a Check Point Certified Security Administrator. Additionally trained in Security+, Network+, and NSTISSI-4011, Paul de Souza holds several other Cisco and Blue Coat technology certifications, as well as Hacking and Countermeasures Professional and SANS Electronic Warfare certifications.

Alongside his responsibilities at Brigham Young University, he leads the Cyber Security Forum Initiative (CSFI) in the role of Director. The CSFI, a nonprofit organization that Mr. de Souza founded in 2009, presently consists of approximately 13,000 individuals in the cyber warfare and cyber security fields. CSFI members hail from a variety of professional backgrounds, including academia, government, and military service, as well as the private sector. Through the organization, de Souza has contributed to several collaborative efforts in countering and breaking down sophisticated cyber attacks. General leadership responsibilities that he holds at CSFI include managing operations in both of the organization's divisions: Cyber Warfare and Law and Policy.

Mr. de Souza has served as Chief Security Engineer at AT&T, as well as the Senior Security Analyst at Computer Sciences Corporation and Wireless Technical Support Engineer at US Robotics. He also furnished experience in Wide Area Network and Blue Coat security.
