Kathleen Corbet’s life revolves around the financial world, but she also uses her expertise for social projects. To that end, she serves as a member of the Senior Advisory Board for Pro Mujer, an international women’s development organization that provides means, health care support, business training, and micro-lending opportunities to poor Latin American women, assisting them in building their futures.
Additionally, she has served on the New Canaan Board of Finance and the Senior Healthcare & Housing Policy Development Team as well as chaired the Best Practices in Municipal Budgeting Task Force. Kathleen Corbet enjoys a busy professional life as principal and founder of Cross Ridge Capital, LLC, a strategic consulting and private investing firm that she started in 2008 to serve alternative energy and financial information services industries. Through Cross Ridge Capital, LLC, Kathleen Corbet acts as Executive Advisor to companies including StarVest Partners, L.P.; Emerging Managers Group, L.P.; Rapid Ratings International; and BNE Energy, Inc. Kathleen Corbet also sits on the Board of Trustees for The Jackson Laboratory, a biomedical research company in Bar Harbor, Maine, and the Board of Trustees for Boston College.
Prior to starting her own venture, Kathleen Corbet served as President of Standard & Poor's, a subsidiary of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc. There, she led 8,000 employees who were located in 25 different countries. Kathleen Corbet took the company through a global expansion in several areas, including risk evaluation, indices, investment data and research, and credit ratings. She also oversaw Standard & Poor's acquisition of several companies, such as Taiwan Ratings Corporation, Capital IQ, Vista Research (now Guidepoint Global, LLC.), and Assirt. Before Kathleen Corbet joined Standard and Poor’s, she served in a number of positions at Alliance Capital Management, L.P. (now AllianceBernstein L.P.).
Over time, she held the role of Chairman of Alliance Capital Australia and New Zealand Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Capital Ltd. in London. As Executive Vice President and CEO of the Alliance Fixed Income Division, Kathleen Corbet managed a division responsible for managing more than $160 billion in global assets. Kathleen Corbet maintains membership in the Council for Women at Boston College, the League of Women Voters of New Canaan, and the Boston College Wall Street Council.
