Katherine Shaw - Equity Analyst
Katherine Shaw has worked in investment banking and equity analysis since 2000. She is currently an Equity Research Analyst at Fidelity Investments in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Shaw received her BA in American Government and Economics from the University of Virginia in 2000 and her MBA from Harvard University in 2008. Over the course of her career, Ms. Shaw has worked for some of the top names in investment banking.
After graduating from UVA, Katherine Shaw moved to New York to accept a position with the investment firm of Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. (now Citigroup Global Markets). In addition to providing investment banking analysis, she was enlisted to create SSB’s LBO Modeling education program, which she then used to instruct over 400 new SSB associates and analysts. In 2002, after two years at Salomon Smith Barney, Katherine Shaw left the company and accepted a position with the private equity company TA Associates, Inc., in Boston. At TA Associates, Ms. Shaw was a Private Equity Associate in the Consumer and Business/Financial Services Group. This position was a significant advancement from her position at SSB, and with it came a multitude of new responsibilities, including deal generation, recapitalizations, presentations of new investment ideas, publication review, work on transaction teams, and sourced and non-sourced deals.
In addition to her work, Katherine Shaw is also an avid runner and has participated in several marathons and triathlons. Ms. Shaw is also a philanthropist, donating to such worthwhile causes as the American Cancer Society, Oxfam, the American Red Cross, and Catholic Charities. She is the founder of the Donald J. Shaw, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, which helps to pay college tuition for one graduating senior from her former high school each year.
