He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at The College of William and Mary in Virginia and a Doctor of Medicine at Hahnemann Medical College of Drexel University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Tamea also completed a rotating internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Colorado and a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Kansas Wichita affiliated hospitals.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Tamea holds fellowship status with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition to his private practice, the former orthopedic surgeon previously served on the volunteer staff at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic, acted as a high school football team physician, and held medical examiner and review positions. For the West Virginia Division of Handicapped Children’s Services, Dr. Tamea fulfilled the role of Regional Director and Staff Surgeon for more than two decades. A member of the Greenbrier Valley Medical Society, the West Virginia State Medical Association, and the West Virginia Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Tamea also belongs to the American Medical Association.
From their base in St. Petersburg, the former orthopedic surgeon and his wife, Judy, traveled to Dessalines, Haiti, to observe and assist at the Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage, a life-changing experience. When not engaged in professional or charitable pursuits, Conrad Tamea, MD, enjoys making violins and fishing in Florida.
