Attorney Mark Briggs manages operations at the law firm he founded in 2009, Briggs Law Group PLLC. At his firm, Briggs and the other attorneys concentrate their efforts on matters relating to business transactions and operations. Among other cases, he handles mergers and acquisitions, agreements and contracts, and corporate governance issues. His experience also embraces regulatory issues associated with political campaign finances.
Aside from these activities, he draws on his experience as an attorney in his role as Director of Special Projects for Veridus LLC, a government relations and public affairs consultancy.
Before assuming his current positions, Briggs served as an attorney at Quarles & Brady LLP, a prominent Phoenix law firm. As a Partner, he practiced corporate law there for 15 years, earning recognition as one of the Southwest Super Lawyers for his work in mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, he received an AV® rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can earn.
To prepare for his career as an attorney and business owner, Mark Briggs obtained three degrees, beginning with his Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Kansas. After graduating with highest distinction, he moved to Iowa City and entered the University of Iowa College of Law. The following year, he also began studying for his Master of Business Administration, graduating with both degrees in 1994.
Over the course of his career, Briggs has volunteered his time and expertise as an attorney in a number of capacities. The former Chairman of the Arizona Humane Society Board, he proved instrumental in the drafting and passage of Senate Bill 1174, signed into law in 1999. Under that law, animal cruelty constitutes a felony, and those who are convicted can face steep fines and a year in jail. At present, he serves as Commissioner of the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Commission, and he participates in several other civic organizations as well.
