Marina Kurian MD - Medical Director of the Department of Surgery, Bariatric Division at the New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center



Marina Kurian, M.D., has honed her medical knowledge at several well-established medical venues and institutions. From 1998 to 2000, she underwent a Clinical Laparoscopic Surgery Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Prior to this, she was selected by the Children’s Hospital of Michigan at Wayne State University in Detroit to receive a Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. Additionally, Dr. Marina Kurian served a Categorical Residency in General Surgery at Albany Medical Center and was a Surgical Fellow at Pediatric Surgical Research Laboratories at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Prior to this postgraduate training, which allowed her to improve and expand her medical knowledge, Dr. Marina Kurian obtained her M.D. from Albany Medical College in New York in 1990. Before earning her doctorate, she studied at Union College in Schenectady, New York, where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Modern Language in 1988, graduating summa cum laude. During her time at Albany Medical College, Marina Kurian, M.D., earned the Dean’s Certificate for Honorable Mention in Research Endeavors. In April of 2008, she was also nominated to the Super Doctors list.

As a researcher, Dr. Marina Kurian has published her observations and collaborations with other professionals in her field in a number of reputable, established medical journals, including Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, the ACS Surgical Forum, Clinical Cancer Research, and the Journal of Pediatric Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Marina Kurian has delivered a diverse and specialized range of talks at a number of significant conferences and gatherings of medical professionals, including the World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery in Singapore.
