Kathryn Diaz enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Art History. During her time at UCLA, Miss Diaz studied abroad at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid.
Soon after her graduation from UCLA, Diaz matriculated at Loyola Marymount University, where she pursued a Master's of Marital and Family Therapy and Clinical Art Therapy. As a student of Loyola Marymount, she earned a competitive grade point average that earned her a place in the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society.
Before earning her degree in 2009, she demonstrated her skills as a therapist by researching the effects of psychotropic medications and publishing a Master’s thesis entitled “Psychopharmacology and Dual-Diagnosis in Art Therapy Treatment.”
In July 2009, Kathryn Diaz accepted a position at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles as an MFT Intern and Art Therapist. Operating from the Thalians Mental Health Center, she provided psychotherapy treatment to individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of psychological disorders. To supplement her clinical training, Miss Diaz participated in weekly classes related to psychopathology, psychopharmacology, addiction, and family therapy. She also collaborated with licensed therapists, psychiatry fellows, and attending psychiatrists on a regular basis.
In addition to her career as a therapist, Kathryn Diaz has contributed to her field by publishing in reputable psychotherapy journals. More specifically, her article entitled “Psychotropic medication and art therapy: Overview of literature and clinical considerations” was published in The Arts in Psychotherapy journal in 2011.
