John Mappin and his wife Irina, together with well-known British artist Ted Stourton, own the Camelot Castle Hotel. Mappin, well-known for his patronage of the arts, runs an innovative cultural project at hotel.

John Mappin is a talented singer and composer, and as such it is important for him also to encourage musicians and entertainers to visit the hotel. There is a grand piano available there for any musician that would like to play and entertain the guests, and the hotel recently hosted the Jive Aces, who appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.

With his background in films and filmmaking, and his inherent love of myths and legends, it was not difficult for John Mappin to imagine bringing the castle back to its former glory and create something entirely different and magical.

Mappin’s dabbled in a number of other activities prior to the acquisition and operation of the Camelot Castle Hotel. In the mid to late 1990s John Mappin had roles in a film and a TV series. During his time in Hollywood, he was also involved in the distribution of films, and also had a company dealing in story rights for films.

He also owns a line of local newspapers and is an independent publisher, whose opinions are well-known in the region. He believes in promoting world peace and goodwill, and sees his publications as an excellent medium for spreading these beliefs.
