James W Ferguson, III - 45-year veteran of the accounting industry
A 45-year veteran of the accounting industry, James W Ferguson, III boasts some of the most prestigious certifications in his field. In 1988, he became one of the first CPAs to earn the designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) from the American Institute of CPAs. Today, he remains one of only 5,000 CPAs in the U.S. with this designation.
Ferguson also counts himself among the world’s 150 Certified Exit Planning Advisors (CEPA), a title he earned from the Exit Planning Institute. These two certifications combine to make Ferguson uniquely suited to offer financial and exit planning to his accounting clients.
In 2012, James W Ferguson, III partnered with Michael Park, JD to form Rock Bridge, LLC, a firm that offers investment management; business succession planning; and financial, tax, and estate planning services. The McKinney, Texas-based company takes a client-first approach with its financial services, custom designing unique investment plans and goals for each client.
Prior to his work with Rock Bridge, LLC, he co-founded Fortress Financial Services, Inc., a Dallas-based company that assisted clients in coordinating their income and estate taxes with their retirement protection plans. During his tenure with Fortress Financial, Ferguson played a key role in helping a number of West Texas landowners minimize the transfer taxes associated with passing their property to their heirs.
Ferguson earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Midwestern State University in 1969. He maintains memberships in the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Exit Planning Institute.
Today, Ferguson lives with his wife in McKinney, Texas, where he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, golfing, fishing, and sampling fine wines.
