Jack Nagel - Chairman at Decron Properties, Real Estate Investor/Developer
A reputable land developer with a long history of constructing and managing residential, commercial, and mixed-use land in the Los Angeles area, Jack Nagel serves as the President of the Nagel Construction Company and Chairman of Decron Properties Corporation. A resident of the Los Angeles area for more than 60 years, Mr. Nagel actively helps manage a portfolio containing more than 50 properties and upwards of six million square feet of space.
During his life, Jack Nagel has overcome nearly insurmountable obstacles in achieving his goals. Born in Poland, Mr. Nagel lived through the Holocaust and World War II before relocating to the United States in 1947. Alone, with a high school education and a school visa, he took classes at New York University and worked as an import/export businessman.
During this time, he met and married his wife Gitta before moving to Los Angeles in 1955 to start a family and a career. Not long after arriving on the West Coast, Mr. Nagel founded the Nagel Construction Company and began overseeing development of single-family homes in the San Fernando Valley. Over the next 25 years, he led the construction of more than 2,000 houses in the Valley under the Empress Homes brand name.
While he initially focused on constructing single-family residences, Nagel diversified his portfolio and his building and management expertise over subsequent decades to include multi-family complexes and office and retail spaces.
In 1988, he transferred the management of his growing portfolio over to the Decron Properties Corporation, of which his son David Nagel currently serves as President. Under Jack Nagel’s guidance, Decron Properties continues to grow; the company presently employs more than 170 professionals responsible for managing residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.
